French energy company EDF on Friday formally denied press reports of a plan to sell its Italian subsidiary Edison, a spokesman for the group said.

„EDF completely refutes the information published today (Friday-Editor’s note) by the daily MF-Milano Finanza according to which the group would consider the sale of its subsidiary Edison”, said the French energy company in response to a request from Reuters.

In an article published on Friday, the financial daily, which quoted financial sources, reported on an ongoing reflection at EDF about a possible sale of Edison, an operation whose amount could reach six billion euros.
